Palestine Welcomes Pope Benedict XVI

On May 12-13, 2009 the people of Palestine will welcome Pope Benedict XVI to two major Holy Cities: Jerusalem the Capital of Palestine declared as the Cultural Capital of the Arab World for the year 2009; and to Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus Christ.  

His Holiness´s visit to one of the Palestinian refugee camps in Bethlehem , exemplifies his Holiness´s support & solidarity with the Palestinians, and strengthens his mission towards promoting the message of love, tolerance, justice and fraternity among the world nations from all religious & ethnical backgrounds.   

Your Holiness's visit to the Holy land will play a fundamental role in promoting Palestine as a safe tourist destination, and as a universal leader, your word will contribute to the Peace Process in our region. We join you in your prayers for a much needed peace and justice in Palestine .    

 

Pilgrimage Visit of His Holiness Benedict XVI to Bethlehem on the 13th of May

 
  

- 09:00 Welcoming ceremony at the presidential palace, in Bethlehem .  
- 10:00 Mass on the Manger's Square in Bethlehem .  
- 12:30 Lunch with the Ordinaries of the Holy Land, the Franciscan community and  the Papal suite at the Casa Nova in Bethlehem .  
- 15.30 Private visit to the Grotto of the Nativity in Bethlehem .  
- 16:10 Visit to the Caritas Baby Hospital in Bethlehem  
- 16:45 Visit to the refugee camp Al Aida' in Bethlehem .  
- 18:00 Courtesy visit to the President of the Palestinian Authority at the Presidential Palace in Bethlehem .  
- 18:40 Departure ceremony in the courtyard of the Presidential Palace.
